Gono Bishwabidyalay Photographic Society (GBPS) began its journey on September 24, 2019, with the aim to blend visual storytelling with social purpose. We organize workshops, exhibitions, and photo walks to highlight health, society, and student life. Supported by mentors, faculty, and passionate students, we continue to build a space where photography inspires learning, awareness, and change.

আলো আর অনুভূতির জগতে প্রবেশের প্রথম দরজা— "একদল ছবিয়াল-এর গল্প" হলো গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফটোগ্রাফিক সোসাইটির (জিবিপিএস) এক আন্তরিক প্রচেষ্টা। এটি শুধু একটি বই নয়, বরং একদল তরুণ ফটোগ্রাফারের স্বপ্ন, শেখা, বন্ধুত্ব আর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনের সৃজনশীল মুহূর্তগুলোর এক অনন্য দলিল।
এই বইয়ের প্রতিটি পৃষ্ঠায় আছে একেকটি ছবির পেছনের গল্প— লেন্সের ভেতর দিয়ে দেখা বাস্তবতা, মানুষের আবেগ, প্রকৃতির মাধুর্য, এবং আলোচিত্রের ভাষায় বলা নীরব অনুভব। GBPS-এর সদস্যদের হাতে ধরা ক্যামেরা যেমন সময়কে থামিয়ে রেখেছে, তেমনি এই প্রকাশনা সেই সময়ের গল্পগুলোকে পাঠকের কাছে পৌঁছে দিচ্ছে নতুনভাবে।
২০২১–২০২২ কার্যনির্বাহী পরিষদের উদ্যোগে প্রকাশিত এই বইটি জিবিপিএস'র পথচলার এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক।

ছবির বাম পাশে রয়েছে গণস্বাস্থ্য সমাজ ভিত্তিক মেডিকেল কলেজ ফটোগ্রাফি ক্লাব, ডান পাশে গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফটোগ্রাফিক সোসাইটি এবং মাঝখানে দাঁড়িয়ে আছেন গণস্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রের অন্যতম প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ডা. জাফরুল্লাহ চৌধুরী। এই মুহূর্তটি কেবল একটি ছবি নয়, বরং প্রজন্মের পর প্রজন্মকে আলোকচিত্রের মাধ্যমে সমাজ ও মানবকল্যাণে অনুপ্রাণিত করার প্রতীকী দৃশ্য।

আলোকচিত্র উৎসবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জাতিসংঘ জনসংখ্যা পুরস্কারে ভূষিত প্রথম বাংলাদেশি নারী ডা. হালিদা হানুম আক্তার। তার উপস্থিতি উৎসবকে বিশেষ মর্যাদা দিয়েছে এবং আলোকচিত্র ও সমাজসেবার মাধ্যমে প্রেরণা দেওয়ার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মুহূর্ত হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হয়েছে।তৃতীয় চোখে অন্য জীবন

২০১৩ সালের নভেম্বরে সরকার হিজড়া জনগোষ্ঠীকে 'তৃতীয় লিঙ্গ' হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দেয়। এর ধারাবাহিকতায় ২০১৪ সালের ২৬ জানুয়ারি হিজড়াদের রাষ্ট্রীয় স্বীকৃতি দিয়ে গেজেট প্রকাশ করা হয়। জনশুমারি ও গৃহগণনা ২০২২ অনুসারে, বাংলাদেশে তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের জনসংখ্যা ১২,৬২৯ জন।
The Challenge
এত বড় জনসংখ্যার জন্য দেশে নির্দিষ্ট কোনো কর্মক্ষেত্র নেই। ফলে তারা সমাজের মূল স্রোত থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়ে বাস/ট্রেনে টাকা তোলা, নেচে-গেয়ে জীবিকা নির্বাহ এবং নানা অনৈতিক কার্যক্রমের পথ বেছে নিতে বাধ্য হচ্ছে। এর ফলস্বরূপ, সমাজে প্রতিনিয়ত নানা রকম সামাজিক সমস্যা তৈরি হচ্ছে।
Gono Bishwabidyalay's Initiative
এই সমস্যা নিরসনে গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এক ব্যতিক্রমী ও অনুকরণীয় উদ্যোগ নেয়। ২০১৮ সালে তারা প্রথমবারের মতো ছয়জন তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের (হিজড়া) মানুষকে নিরাপত্তা কর্মী হিসেবে নিয়োগ দেয়। নিয়োগপ্রাপ্তরা হলেন: • নূর আলম নীলা • আলাউদ্দিন আঁখি • সুমন মিয়া ওরফে সুমনা • জাহানারা • সাহিদা • সোনালী

University Overview
Gono Bishwabidyalay (গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়), also known as the People’s University, is a prominent private university located in Nolam, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established on 14 July 1994, it received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1998. The university operates on a 32-acre rural campus and is committed to affordable, quality education, especially in health sciences, social sciences, and technology.

The 32-acre rural campus at Nolam, Savar offers modern facilities including sports grounds, hostels, and a teaching hospital. The university hosts a variety of student organizations, including cultural clubs, sports teams, and the vibrant Photographic Society.
Photography Club
Established in 2019, the Gono Bishwabidyalay Photographic Society (GBPS) has rapidly grown to over 150 active members. The club promotes photography as a creative and educational pursuit, organizes workshops, photo walks, exhibitions, and competitions, and serves as a platform for students to explore social issues and campus life through photography.
