Our Foundation
Gono Bishwabidyalay Photographic Society (GBPS) was established on September 24, 2019. It is dedicated to developing photography as a form of education, cultural practice, and social awareness. It began as a student initiative and now operates under a structured constitution with the approval of university authorities.
The Beginning
In September 2019, a Convening Committee of ten students laid the foundation for GBPS with the aim of fostering a photography community that encourages creativity and highlights important societal issues.
The society was officially inaugurated on September 24, 2019, through a ceremony held in conjunction with the Public Health Photo Contest, attended by university officials and renowned photographers.
Our Milestones
Inauguration Ceremony
GBPS was officially launched on September 24, 2019. This event was part of Bangladesh's second Public Health Photo Contest, and was attended by prominent guests including Dr. David L. Parker, Mohammad Ponir Hossain (Pulitzer Prize), and Hasan Saifuddin Chandan (FIAP Gold Medalist).
First Workshop
The first photography workshop was organized with participation from over 50 students. Topics included basics of composition, camera handling, and digital editing.
First Exhibition
A photography exhibition titled "Through Our Lens" showcased student works focused on social themes, held at the university premises.
Pandemic Response
During COVID-19, GBPS launched virtual workshops and started the “Photo of the Week” online series to keep members engaged remotely.

জিবিপিএস পেল বাংলাদেশ ফটোগ্রাফিক সোসাইটির (বিপিএস) সদস্যপদ
গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফটোগ্রাফিক সোসাইটি (জিবিপিএস) আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বাংলাদেশ ফটোগ্রাফিক সোসাইটি (বিপিএস)-এর অধিভুক্ত সদস্য পদ লাভ করেছে। জিবিপিএস এখন গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জাতীয় পর্যায়ে নথিভুক্ত একমাত্র সংঘটন।
২০২১ সালের ১১ ডিসেম্বর তারিখে প্রদত্ত এই স্বীকৃতি সার্টিফিকেটের মাধ্যমে জিবিপিএস এখন দেশের জাতীয় ফটোগ্রাফিক ফেডারেশনের অংশ হিসেবে স্বীকৃত।
এই অর্জন গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফটোগ্রাফিক সোসাইটির জন্য এক গৌরবময় মাইলফলক, যা সংগঠনের কর্মপ্রচেষ্টা ও সৃজনশীল কার্যক্রমের প্রতি জাতীয় পর্যায়ে আস্থার প্রতিফলন ঘটিয়েছে।
